Schools: Architecture INSTE^D of Buildings

And just as we acquaint ourselves with materials, just as we must understand functions, so we must become familiar with the psychological and spiritual factors of our day. No cultural activity is possible otherwise; for we are dependent on the spirit of our time

Mies Van Der Rohe’s lines rang truest when I visited this school in the South Indian town of Bellary

Designed and built by Open Studio in collaboration with CVA, the School architecture with its beautiful brick arches, merry white walls & young ochre doors brought alive, a joyous innocence which could only belong to children who are happy to be here

  1. So lovely to revisit - after all this time - had forgotten about the flaming (words?)black board - what was I thinking :)

Don't think 'Open Studio' had occurred to us then - Kumar insisted (and you know how he could go on!) I refused - and Sundeep met Kumar. Turned out nicely though - the kids look happy enough!
Its a CVA project though technically I guess - though some people did not corrupt themselves with these things - mine is yours Kumar!
